Vodka slush became legendary
So after a few years of not travelling anywhere during the summer (The last being Newcastle) our lads got together and a trip to Skegness for a weekend of beer, football and more beer was arranged by Rhys.
Everyone made their own way to Skegness on the Saturday, heading straight to the Skegnes Town Stadium. Rhys had arranged a friendly with Skegness Town Reserves for a 3pm KO.
Those who arrived early enough went about checking into hotels before making their way to the ground.
Upon arrival, we must say the facility itself was superb, especially for a provincial side like Skegness Town.
Having had a quick tour of the ground (videos can be ssen on social media) the lads got settled in and changed ready for the game.
The match itself saw E&K come up against a very young, fit & energetic side of whom raced into a 2-0 lead before HT.
The second half however saw E&K fight back and end the game with a 2-2 draw. A sign that would signify the character within the side.
With the game over, food was laid on for the players in the clubhouse which overlooked the 1st team pitch in which a packed home crowd bore witness to a storming result for Skegness, romping home 6-0 winners.
With the formalities of the match over, it was time to head back ot hotels and prep for the night ahead which included Derby County being on live TV...destination pub!
The lads congregated at the nearest pub showing the game and some of us wished we hadn't bothered with Derby getting mullered by Leeds. Que the 'Reds' amongst us enjoying it.
The night flowed with beers a plenty and Tom Stanley introduced what is now legendary...Vodka slush puppies which were widely available in each of the pubs and bars.
The night continued as you'd expect and the lads added another memorable pre season trip to the list!
Onto 2019...
